Walking the middle way

Making sure we don’t over exercise and optimising rest periods seem to us to be just as important as making sure we keep up our motivation to exercise in the first place. Different bodies will need different levels of activity, rest, stretching, strengthening, and releasing. We believe the best chance you can give someone towards achieving this balance is by helping them connect with, and maintain the relationship with, their own body. Imagine a tightrope, where achieving this balance means staying on.  On one side you could fall into the trap of not exercising enough.  On the other side you could fall into the trap of over exercising.  The trick is to get listening to our body and getting the balance right.

When working with private clients we notice two extremes at opposite ends of the spectrum.  Some clients come in and clearly struggle with motivation.  Others use exercise addictively.  We are always looking for ways to help clients in find a healthy and balanced perspective.  This model has been useful in describing these dynamics.

Let us know if this resonates with you, or not.  We would love to hear your perspective!
